Current v4 clients exchange P-256 ECDH public keys after pairing and derive separate text and file keys with HKDF-SHA-256; no encryption key is embedded in the QR code or link. The relay sees ciphertext plus necessary connection data and file name, type and size. No account or app is required; both browsers stay open and online. The hosted service is proprietary; its isolated E2EE component and tests are Apache-2.0.
